Making Music Herstory: Artist Profile, Jennah Bell

Los Angeles CA, USA, July 22, 2009 -

Making Music Herstory centers around the art of the sing-songwriters. They create original music to record with other female musicians, engineers, and producers. The Indie artists involved with the project are unique with clear artistry, great lyricists, strong vocalists, and are steering their careers with pure business savvy. One of the artists that encapsulates all of those things is Jennah Bell.

“Jennah was introduced to me by Paris Strother. I heard her voice, her lyrics, her music and I almost stopped breathing! exclaims Executive Producer Lisa Chamblee-Hampton. She paints these pictures in your mind through your ears and you are transported to a magical place. It sounds corny, but it’s true. Being pleased that she is involved is an understatement.”

Hailing from Sunny-season less Northern California, Jennah Bell’s style incorporates her Liberal/Bohemian upbringing. At a young age everyone could tell she would be an artist, of what kind? No one knew. She dabbles in the culinary arts, painting & amp, photography, dancing, and last but not least, music.

She began learning to play the piano, followed by the flute, had a brief stint with the drums, and finally found her muse in the guitar. Music was never a serious career choice until she was blessed with the opportunity to attend a wonderful summer program affiliated with the Grammy Foundation. A competitive audition process placed her as one of 11 singer/songwriters from around the U.S. Her peers, elders, and music business professionals (Paul Williams, Jimmy Jam, INXS) embraced her unorthodox writing style (writing songs about fish, and the Wizard of Oz), alternative/folk/soul song melodies, and endearing honest vocals.

This gave her the courage and motivation she needed to apply to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Now at 19 in her 4th semester at Berklee, Jennah is ready to spread sunshine, the fresh smell of laundry, and daisies to the rest of the world.
